Who is New Moon?

New Moon Restaurants, with 5 locations in Los Angeles area, has a loyal following that goes back three generations, starting when the restaurant first opened its doors in 1956.  Our locations include: Montrose, Valencia San Marino, and two in Downtown Los Angeles and now we are opening a new location this summer on Beach Blvd. in Buena Park (next door to Porto’s Bakery). We feature a finely balanced fusion of traditional Asian flavors updated and re-imagined for contemporary tastes. Our Interiors are modern with service standards that exemplify warm gracious hospitality.

 

Positions Available:

 

Servers 

Position Overview 

Provide warm, professional, and responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all of our guests.  Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guest’s needs; making them welcome, comfortable, and important. We have established a New Moon service culture of genuine hospitality and our success depends on it.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide sincere and gracious hospitality to all of our guests
  • Offer menu suggestions and clarifications as needed
  • Take orders and serve food and beverages to guests
  • Wine and cocktail service; must have a strong knowledge of our wine and cocktail list
  • Table maintenance, table maintenance, table maintenance!
  • Cash accountability
  • Maintain clean service area
  • Perform side work at the start and end of each shift.

Demands of the Job

  • Servers must consistently be able to assess, anticipate and meet guests’ needs and respond quickly without losing focus or projecting a mood that detracts from a guest’s

dining experience.  This requires a deep knowledge of the New Moon’s customer service standards.  Servers must clearly communicate in a professional manner with guests, co-workers and management.  A server must adapt to different personalities of guests and co-workers without losing focus.  Servers must have a strong knowledge of our products and services and anticipate a customer’s needs clearly.  If a problem arises, we seek those who are able to resolve it appropriately with the use of good judgment, tact and initiative according to company policies and procedures.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.  Must be able to carry and balance trays filled with multiple dishes and/or drinks.  We require the use of tray service, even for just one item.

 

Bartenders 

Position Overview 

Bartenders provide high level of customer service and prepare alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages for bar guests. Also we do serve full menu at our bar and lounge. We have established a New Moon service culture of genuine hospitality and our success depends on it.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide sincere and gracious hospitality to all of our guests
  • Make New Moon signature cocktails, as well as a broad range of standard full service bar drinks
  • Offer menu suggestions and clarifications as needed
  • Take orders and serve food and beverages to guests
  • Wine and cocktail service; must have a strong knowledge of our wine and cocktail list
  • Table maintenance, table maintenance, table maintenance!
  • Cash accountability
  • Maintain clean service area
  • Perform side work at the start and end of each shift.

Hosts | Hostesses 

Position Overview 

Hosts/Hostesses provide the first and last impression of our company. Attention to detail, ability to multitask and exceptional customer service skills are a must. Positive, gracious, and sincere hospitality is expected at all times. We have established a New Moon service culture of genuine hospitality and our success depends on it.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide sincere and gracious hospitality to all of our guests
  • Organize, plan and create the seating chart for each shift
  • Assist guests in placing take-out orders and being thorough and correct
  • Takes phone orders and delivery orders by phone with excellent customer service skills
  • Check take-out orders to make sure all orders are correct before a guest leaves the building
  • Ensure that all guests are helped in a timely manner, with a sensitivity to their situation
  • Greet all guests warmly and if dining-in, escort them to a table graciously
  • Ensure servers are aware when and where they have been sat a table
  • Make sure all menus are clean and presentable
  • Saying goodbye to all guests and check to see if everything was wonderful

Demands of the Job

  • Hostesses must be able to work accurately and steadily in a fast-paced customer service environment, while providing a superior customer experience. They must communicate with others within their department, managers, bus personnel, and waiters in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and sustain high energy.  We expect our hostesses to be exceedingly mindful of a guest’s temperament and needs. They must be willing to ensure a happy experience for guests throughout the dining room and waiting area. Hostesses will be required to use a tray for food and beverage service, even for just one item.

 

Food Expeditors/Takeout Packers 

Position Overview 

Work as an extension to the front of servers and hostesses. You are tasked with organizing a table’s complete food order in a timely manner.  Expeditors are the last ones to impact a dish before it leaves the kitchen and is presented to a customer; therefore food standards, knowledge, and special-order identifying skills are of the utmost importance. Expeditors will also assemble and pack pickup/delivery orders.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assisting waiters in organizing trays to guests, must have a sense of urgency for food to be delivered hot and in optimal condition
  • Ensures all dishes being put on a tray match an ordering ticket, including modifiers and special requests
  • Accurately prepare and pack take-out and delivery orders

Demands of the Job

  • Requires great communication, multi-tasking and organizing skills…being a team player is a must!
  • Must have superior knowledge of all ingredients of all dishes on the New Moon menu and an adherence to our food standards
  • Must be able to successfully work in a super high-paced environment with fellow staff members and managers of differing cultures and languages
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and maintain their energy

 

Bussers / Dishwashers 

Position Overview 

This position has a high level of interaction with customers and is integral to the smooth operation and cleanliness of the restaurant.  Attention to detail, ability to multitask and excellent customer service skills are a must. We have established a New Moon service culture of genuine hospitality and our success depends on it.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Facilitates food service by setting and resetting dining room tables.
  • Provides customers with beverage service, the clearing of plates or boxing of leftover food.
  • Setup and break down of the dining room and patio.
  • Multiple duties to ensure the cleanliness and order of the restaurant.
  • Maintains an adequate supply of items such as clean linens, silverware, glassware, or dishes.
  • Locates and delivers items requested by customers.
  • Scrapes and stacks dirty dishes and carries dishes and other tableware to kitchen for cleaning.
  • Operates dishwashing machine in accordance to their training
  • Washes pots, pans, mixing bowls, etc. as needed by kitchen staff
  • Restock dishes, trays, silverware or glassware from kitchen to dining room.
  • Restock serving platters etc. to cooking line
  • Transport linens to or from laundry areas.

Demands of the Job

  • Busser / Dishwashers need to be able to lift at least 20lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment performing physical work for a sustained period

 

Cocktail Server

Position Overview 

Cocktail waitresses must provide warm, professional, and responsive service to create an exceptional experience for all of our guests. They are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, cocktail waitresses are expected to be attentive to our guest’s needs; making them welcome, comfortable, and important. We have established a New Moon service culture of genuine hospitality and our success depends on it.

  • Have a thorough knowledge of ingredients and selling points of our New Moon signature cocktails, as well as a broad range of standard full service bar drinks
  • Offer food suggestions and clarifications as needed
  • Take orders and serve food and beverages to guests
  • Wine and cocktail service; must have a strong knowledge of our wine and cocktail list
  • Table maintenance, table maintenance, table maintenance!
  • Cash accountability
  • Maintain clean service area
  • Perform side work at the start and end of each shift.

Demand of the Job
